Georgia German Shepherd Dog Mix Newport Beach, CA

A devoted volunteer was at a large Los Angeles Animal Shelter when Georgia was brought in on a leash...the volunteer's eyes filled with tears and her heart filled with anger over the horrific condition that Georgia was in. According to those bringing Georgia in to the shelter (where she faced a likely death)a family had left Georgia tied up outside in their yard without love or care. A neighbor intervened to release Georgia from this torturous existence and brought her to the shelter. The alert volunteer brought Georgia's sad fate to our attention and, despite our meager resources, we had to help.
Georgia's skin was crawling with fleas, and her fur and skin had been gnawed away. She had raw and oozing sores from scratching and biting at herself to relieve the itching, and she was drastically underweight. Her ears were painfully infected and a yeast infection ravaged one-third of her body.

Fortunately, Georgia is now at our vet's office receiving medicated baths, antibiotics, blood tests, and much-needed affection. As we learn more about Georgia's prognosis, we will update her profile.
