Meet MATILDA HELP!

Matilda came to us from the Lorain County Dog Pound where the Dog Warden called and asked us to take her into rescue. He did not want to put her down because she was just such a nice dog. She is missing her left eye. We even got a free spay and heart worm check from the vet that takes care of the dog pound. However Matilda was already spayed. She was heart worm negative and all vaccinations are now up to date plus she is micro chipped.
ON HER FIRST DAY AT SAINT FRANCIS someone came to look at dogs! A young woman fell in love with her and wanted to adopt her. FOLKS THIS IS THE RESCUERS DREAM DOG. Adopted after only one day here. I gave Matilda a Heartgard heart worm pill and discovered Matilda's life threatening problem. She took the Heartgard between her two paws and pushed her face down on it. She was trying to eat it and could not open her mouth. Then it hit me as I remembered hearing her muffled bark thinking perhaps someone "de-barked" her. NO! she can not open her mouth. She can not pant like a dog when its hot out. She can not lap water but has to put her entire face into the water dish and suck it up. She pushes her face down on dog food and sucks it up between her teeth. HERE IS THE DANGER! IF SHE VOMITS SHE WILL DIE. HER MOUTH DOES NOT OPEN AT ALL! I am so careful feeding her. Who knows what condition her teeth are in and if she ever has pain because we cannot open her mouth. My vet put her to sleep and we tried to open her mouth. IT WILL NOT OPEN! She can over heat if left out because she can not pant to cool off. COULD THIS BE TRAUMA? HER EYE IS MISSING NO SIGN OF AN EYE BUD ( MICRO OPTHALMIA ) COULD HER JAW HAVE BEEN BROKEN?

Matilda's story is located on our web site www.saintfrancisanimalsanctuary.org we have a PayPal account set up for her. We are taking her to Ohio State University. We at least owe her that~ lets see if anything can be done to make her life better. PLEASE DONATE IF YOU CAN! WE ARE A 501(c)3 non profit and donations are tax deductible.
