Meet Ponce

Ponce is a gorgeous 1.5 year old, neutered male German shepherd. He was confiscated in a neglect case, but is doing great. He is housebroke, crate trained, and obedience trained. Gentle and very walkable on a leash (with an occasional correction). Because he was being evaluated as a service dog prospect, his hips have been x-rayed and are very good for a shepherd, according to the vet. He is heartworm negative, has had all his shots, and is ready to go!
Ponce wants nothing more than to be totally devoted to a person who understands German Shepherds. He is extremely attentive. Ponce gets along well with other dogs and loves to play with them, so long as they stay out of his food bowl. He has been slightly possessive of his foster mom (jealous when other dogs approach her), which has caused a couple of mild skirmishes. For this reason he may be better in a single dog home or a home with a female dog rather than another big male. He also has the potential to be a bit protective of home and family (as most shepherds). He will bark at strangers (not ferociously, but in a warning way). Once he knows the person is "ok" then he's friendly as can be. In all of the above he is very responsive to correction. If you know shepherds and are looking for a lifelong friend, PONCE IS YOUR GUY!
