Meet Dutchess

ADOPTED! - Dutchess is a sweet young lady and we think she is just about the perfect dog, so we can't figure out why we haven't yet found the perfect adopter for her. She has been waiting now for several months (our rescue is really short of room, so she's been kenneled, poor baby), and she would really like to be in her new home by Spring. Dutchess is approx. 2 years old and she weighs 20 lbs. (She's not as big as her picture makes her look; in real life she's about knee high.) We really don't know what mix of breeds Dutchess is, but many dog people have told us she looks like a Whippet/Italian Greyhound mix. Dutchess is very gentle and sweet, she's laid back, she knows basic commands, she's housebroken, she's not a big barker, and she's good with other dogs. (She is a little afraid of small children though, so an individual adopter, a couple, or an adoptive family with older children would be best for her.) True to what we think might be some sighthound in her pedigree, Dutchess can run like the wind; it is truly a thrill to watch her run at the dog park! (Dutchess would make a great running partner for someone who is into physical fitness and/or runs marathons.) Dutchess is quiet and laid back in the house, but she will need a large, safely fenced yard because she also loves to exercise---and she can climb a four-foot fence to be with you, so a tallish wood privacy fence would work best for her. (Please, no invisible fencing) We would prefer that Dutchess not be a latchkey dog, so an adopter who works out of his/her home or is retired (or someone who just works part time) would be best for her. Dutchess is well housebroken and crate trained, and she is spayed, immunized, heartworm tests, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $275. If you are interested in possibly adopting Dutchess, please send an e-mail to: rehome@onestarfish.net and tell us a little about yourself, your daily schedule, if you have a large safely fenced yard, etc. Then, if we feel Dutchess would be a good fit for you, we will e-mail you an adoption application to fill out.
Please click on "One Starfish Rehoming Connections" above the photo to read more about our rescue's adoption policies and fees. We do not operate a humane society or shelter, so we do not have a facility that is open to the public. Our dogs are fostered by volunteers in private homes, and they are not available for viewing until an adoption application is filled out and references are checked. Please read the information on our home page (by clicking on our rescue name below this dog's photo) before contacting us.
