Labrador Retriever Mix: An adopted dog in Northville, MI

Arrival story: This little cutie was the last puppy left from a litter dropped off at a rural shelter that was overflowing with animals. A Waggin' Tails volunteer went to the shelter to pull some "urgent" dogs (slated to be euthanized) and saw Leon sitting in a crate all by himself. Poor little Leon was coming down with kennel cough so it's a good thing Waggin' Tails took him in!

Approximate age / weight: is 9 weeks old (DOB approximately 6-18-10) and 13 lbs. We do not know if he will be a medium or a large dog as an adult.

Personality:Leon is a little bit shy at first, but warms up to you quickly and then seeks your affection. He is like any typical Lab puppy, curious, playful, and loves to be held and cuddled.

Forever home:Leon will probably do well in many settings. His new family needs to be able to give Leon plenty of exercise, stimulation, supervision, and cuddles! Like any puppy, Leon needs to go through obedience training and socialization to ensure he grows into a well-mannered adult dog. Formal obedience training is more about teaching the humans how to communicate effectively with the dog.

Waggin' Tails Adoption Information: Waggin' Tails Dog Rescue has a standard adoption fee of $175 for adult dogs. Different adoption fees apply for older dogs, small breeds and puppies - $100 for senior dogs (9 years +), $275 for small breed dogs and $200 for puppies plus a $50 deposit which is returned upon proof of spay/neuter at six months of age.
Our adoption process includes an application, vet reference checks, and a home visit.

Arrangements can be made to meet our rescue dogs outside of Saturday adoption events after an approved application is submitted (the application does not imply an obligation by the applicant or by the rescue group).
