German Shepherd Dog Mix: An adopted dog in Northville, MI

Arrival story:Ellie was surrendered to us by her former owner who adopted her from a shelter. Her former owner nursed Ellie through pneumonia, but did not have the time or experience to raise and train a puppy. Her former owner had her for only a month, and before that, she had come to the shelter as a stray, so we do not know much about her past.

Approximate age / weight: 7 months old (DOB approximately 1-22-10) and 45 lbs.

Personality: Ellie is a tad bit shy at first, but warms up to you quickly and seeks affection. Ellie is bubbly, energetic, and absolutely gorgeous!

Having had no apparent training, Ellie, like any puppy, had no way of knowing what items in the house were off limits. To a puppy who isnt trained, a book or a box of noodles is just another fun toy to play with. This is why puppies should be crated or confined to a small area when not being supervised! We do not yet know if Ellie is housetrained. We will post more information as we learn more.

Ellie lived with two cats and did want to play with them but didnt hurt them. So far, she seems fine around other dogs. We have not seen her around children yet.

Forever home: We are seeking a home with experience training a puppy, and prefer an adopter with German Shepherd experience. Her new family will need to be able to give Ellie plenty of exercise and supervision. Ellie would probably love to have a playmate and is hoping for a fenced yard so she never loses her way again. Her adopter must be able to give Ellie lots of lovin and affection...oh...AND TOYS!!

Waggin' Tails Adoption Information: Waggin' Tails Dog Rescue has a standard adoption fee of $175 for adult dogs. Different adoption fees apply for older dogs, small breeds and puppies - $100 for senior dogs (9 years +), $275 for small breed dogs and $200 for puppies plus a $50 deposit which is returned upon proof of spay/neuter at six months of age.
Our adoption process includes an application, vet reference checks, and a home visit.

Arrangements can be made to meet our rescue dogs outside of Saturday adoption events after an approved application is submitted (the application does not imply an obligation by the applicant or by the rescue group).
