Meet Buster

Arrival story: I was down on my luck, saved from a rural shelter, where I was picked up as a stray with an embedded chain around my neck and heartworm positive. While I am healed and living life to the fullest in foster care, my dream is to be a faithful companion to a special someone.
Approximate age / weight: 4 years old and 55 lbs.
Personality: My favorite things in life are toys and being with people. I am affectionate and very playful! I am also quite clever as crate-training and house-training was a cinch! I have learned good house manners and am not destructive. Well, unless a squeaky toy is involved and then all bets are off! I have learned many commands like sit, down, leave it, shake paw, rollover, stay, com. My leash skills need work so I'm using a Halti head-collar on walks.
Being food-motivated and taking treats gently makes it easy to teach me new things. However, don’t let my size fool you. I am as strong as a dog twice my size. I have an intense chase instinct for small creatures such as squirrels, bunnies, bugs and even toads. Yes, toads!  I should not live with cats. I am working on not being so reactive to those things but this will take time. It would be best if my new family/person is strong and has bully breed experience.
I eat my kibble meals from a kong toy because it is more challenging that way. I like other dogs, but I have a rough-house play style that not all dogs can take, so I would do best as an only dog. I am quite a character and want to play with everyone I meet..

Forever Home: I will be a loyal and affectionate companion to my new pet parent! Ideally, this would be someone with bully breed experience and without children, as I can be a bit pushy. I am fun and will entertain you with my antics and expressive face.

Pre-Adoption Application:
To be considered for a dog, it is best to submit a pre-adoption application. The pre-adoption application can be downloaded from our website - www.waggintailsdogrescue.org/adoptionprocess.html. Just complete the application and email it back to wtdr2008@yahoo.com

Waggin' Tails Adoption Information:
Waggin' Tails Dog Rescue has a standard adoption fee of $225 for adult dogs. Different adoption fees apply for older dogs, small breeds and puppies - $125 for senior dogs (9 years +) , $275 for small breed dogs and $250 for puppies, plus a $50 deposit which is returned upon proof of spay/neuter. Our adoption process includes an application, vet reference checks, and a home visit.
Waggin' Tails Dog Rescue does not have a shelter facility. All of our dogs are fostered in private homes. To meet a dog in person, please see our event calendar on our website at www.waggintailsdogrescue.org for the latest information. Arrangements can be made to meet our rescue dogs outside of Saturday adoption events after an approved application is submitted. This application does not imply an obligation to adopt by the applicant or by the rescue group.
Our volunteers have made rescue a second job that they do in their spare time after coming home from full-time jobs. E-mail inquiries are the quickest way to obtain information about a dog.
Thank you for your support of rescue and your interest in a rescue dog!
