adoption process and application www.sadt.info meaning of name The name Tirzha \t(i)-rz-ha, tir-zha\is a variant of Tirzah (Hebrew), and the meaning of Tirzha is "delight, pleasantness read below what Tirzha has to say To my future family, I just wanted to tell you what living with me will be like. I may be deaf, but I am really just a normal girl. You can talk to me like a hearing dog, you just have to use your hands instead of your voice (my mom talks with her voice too, but thats more for her than for me). Some of the cool things about being deaf are that I dont bark very much, and other dogs barking doesnt bother me. I dont get scared when there are thunderstorms or fireworks and if I am in my crate sleeping, you can go about your housework without disturbing me. I have heard that people think having a deaf dog is really difficult, but that is just not true. Sometimes I dont do what I am told, but I know lots of hearing...

Sometimes I dont do what I am told, but I know lots of hearing dogs who do the same thing. One thing that can be a challenge is getting my attention when I cant see you. Something that I have always wanted is one of those cool collars that vibrate. You can use that as a pager to get me to look at you, then you sign to me to come and I will come running. I know lots of cool signs. I know the basic dog training signs for sit, stay, down, and come, and lots more. I know the signs for back up, look at me, go potty, eat, and drink. I also know a directional sign: my mom points to where she wants me to go, and I am usually pretty good about going where she wants. We have a long hallway and I have learned to wait and follow my mom down the hallway instead of dashing ahead of her. Tirzah is a 3 year old deaf gal She is 23 inches at the withers and weighs approximately 50 pounds She has a good disposition; very sweet and affectionate. She loves kids and is good with kids of all ages. She is good with cats in the home. She tries to chase cats when she is outside. She gets along well with other dogs as long as proper introductions are made, but she is a more dominant dog, and reacts to dogs who try to dominate her by growling. Once she is introduced to other dogs and everybody is friendly she gets along great with them. Her obedience is better inside where there are less distractions. Outside, or where a lot of stuff is going on, getting her to pay attention is more difficult. She knows the signs for: sit, stay, come, down, eat, drink, potty, and a directional sign. I have used a few others with her but not enough that she knows them well. She has spent almost half of her life alone, so she knows how to play by herself but really really wants a playmate or weekly play dates She doesnt play tug o war, and she doesnt really fetch. The only way she really knows how to play is a kind of tag. If you run around she sort of runs around and chases you. She is a high energy dog and needs a high energy, active family with older kids and/or others dogs to run around with. looking for a great forever family that is willing to learn sign language or has experience adoption fee, homecheck, vet references, fenced yard
