Celestina UPDATE Chinese Crested Dog & Chihuahua Mix Hamilton, NJ

Celestina is a 4-year old Powder Puff Chinese Crested Terrer / Yorkie / Chihuahua mix who was dumped on the side of a major highway by her owners. Thankfully, a good Samaritan pulled over and rescued her, and drove her to a local animal hospital who contacted us for help. Celestina was extremely underweight and suffering from a skin condition that caused her to lose most of her hair. (The third picture posted is her "before".) Her ears were bleeding and oozing, signs of an extreme infection that has gone untreated for far too long. She was in extreme discomfort from her ears and required surgery that removed both of her ear canals. She has very little hearing now, but can hear very high pitch sounds or vibrations.

This poor dog faced a long road to recovery, but since arriving in our care about 6 weeks ago, she has already made incredible improvements health-wise. She is currently thriving on the love, care and medical attention she is recieving. She was released from our veterinary hospital and is currently in a private foster home, where she lives in harmony with other dogs, cats and birds.

Celestina is extremely small and weighs only 4-5 pounds. We will not be placing her in a home with small children, as she is always underfoot, and we fear she may be stepped on. She's a sweet, sweet love and craves human attention. Her new parents should be very patient and able to provide her with a lot of one-on-one. (PS.... she loves to sleep in bed with you!)

Celestina is not completely housebroken yet, but is working on her bathroom habits in her foster home. Her fur is growing in quite nicely, but she does still have some allergies and itching. She is currently on medication, but only takes 1/2 pill per day. Vitamin E cream also helps her a lot.
