Great Dane/Retriever Mix: An adopted dog in Northville, MI

Arrival story: Magic was surrendered by her owner to a rural shelter with two other dogs covered in fleas and malnourished. He said he didn’t want them anymore. Magic stole the heart of the Waggin' Tails' volunteer who met her at the shelter because she was full of affection and bubbly, despite the neglect she suffered. Her front teeth were ground down to almost nothing from chewing on rocks, her ears were infected, and she had fleas causing itchiness and hair loss, mostly on her back. Waggin' Tails took Magic in and made sure she received the treatment she needed. This sweetheart is now flea free and feeling great!

Personality:What a sweetie! Magic is very friendly and outgoing, with a bounce in her step. She loves to give and receive affection. Magic quickly learned to make herself at home in her foster home. She LOVES the rocking arm chair - she discovered that right away. The couch is her second favorite spot.

Miss Magic is housetrained and a perfect lady in the house with her impeccable manners. She gets along great with other dogs and doesn't seem to mind cats. She's just a gentle, easy-going girl.

We also tested Magic's thyroid and it was well below normal. Starvation can cause this, or it could be that Magic will have to be on thyroid medication the rest of her life. Fortunately, the medicine is very inexpensive and consists of a tiny pill given twice a day. We are providing Magic with proper nourishment and will have her thyroid re-tested soon. If the reading is still below normal, then we will continue her thyroid pills.

Forever home: Magic is looking for a home where she'll gets a ton of love and affection, and she'll be your devoted companion. She has a high prey drive, so a home with a physical fence will suit her best. Her new family must be financially able to spend roughly $10-20 a month on thyroid pills if they are needed. Oh, and Magic is requesting her own chair or couch in her forever home!

Waggin' Tails Adoption Information: Waggin' Tails Dog Rescue has a standard adoption fee of $175 for adult dogs. Different adoption fees apply for older dogs, small breeds and puppies - $100 for senior dogs (9 years +), $275 for small breed dogs and $200 for puppies plus a $50 deposit which is returned upon proof of spay/neuter at six months of age.
Our adoption process includes an application, vet reference checks, and a home visit.

We do not have a facility; all of our dogs are fostered in private homes. To view our dogs, please check www.waggintailsdogrescue.org for the dates of our next adoption events. Arrangements can be made to meet our rescue dogs outside of Saturday adoption events after an approved application is submitted (the application does not imply an obligation by the applicant or by the rescue group).
