Arrival story: Waggin' Tails rescued handsome Magnum from a rural shelter where he was slated to be euthanized.

Approximate age / weight: Approximately 7 years old and 80 lbs.

Personality: Magnum came to us already neutered, and he knows commands like "sit" and "shake." He is being treated for a terrible ear infection, but thankfully he has a sweet, mild-mannered temperament and is allowing us to clean and medicate his ears. Magnums ears will need to be closely monitored for his entire life. Medication cost for this could run about $25 a month. Magnum most likely has allergies that are contributing to his ear nfections, and we are trying a limited-ingredient diet to see if he has food allergies. Our vet also believes Magnum could have some seasonal allergies.

Magnum is very affectionate and good with dogs, but we don't know how he is around cats as there are none in his foster home.

Magnum is excellent with the children in his foster family, ages 3 & 5. He lets the kids use him as a pillow when they are watching TV and will even play alien with the kids. In this game, Magnum plays the part of the alien and the kids scream and run away from him. Magnum naturally follows the kids and the game continues. It seems as though Magnum actually enjoys the noise and chaos a family with young children can have. Please keep in mind, though, that the children in his foster family have been taught how to treat and respect a dog and are always supervised.

Magnum walks great on a leash. He loves, loves, loves to play fetch with a stuffed ball; it's his favorite thing to do! With this in mind, a fenced yard would be desirable for him. The ball is the only stuffed toy he has not tried to destroy. He has gotten a hold of a slipper and naturally cannot tell the difference between his stuffed toys and the kids toys, so it would be best to keep these items put away. Overall, Magnum is very calm and laid-back. Hes an all-around great dog!

Forever home: Because of his laid-back and calm demeanor, Magnum will fit into many situations. An active family who likes to play ball would be perfect!

Waggin' Tails Adoption Information: Waggin' Tails Dog Rescue has a standard adoption fee of $225 for adult dogs. Different adoption fees apply for older dogs, small breeds and puppies - $125 for senior dogs (9 years +) , $275 for small breed dogs and $250 for puppies, plus a $50 deposit which is returned upon proof of spay/neuter. Our adoption process includes an application, vet reference checks, and a home visit.

Waggin' Tails Dog Rescue does not have a shelter facility. All of our dogs are fostered in private homes. To meet a dog in person, please see our event calendar on our website at www.waggintailsdogrescue.org for the latest information. Arrangements can be made to meet our rescue dogs outside of Saturday adoption events after an approved application is submitted. This application does not imply an obligation to adopt by the applicant or by the rescue group.

Our volunteers have made rescue a second job that they do in their spare time after coming home from full-time jobs. E-mail inquiries are the quickest way to obtain information about a dog.
