"Wake up Maggie I think I got something to say to you It's late September and I really should be back at school I know I keep you amused but I feel I'm being used Oh Maggie I couldn't have tried any more You lured me away from home just to save you from being alone You stole my heart and that's what really hurt" ~ Rod Stewart Our Maggie May will surely steal your heart. This 5 year old coonhound was surrendered by her owners who had made an appointment to have her put her to sleep yesterday afternoon. Their vet had told them months ago that the fatty tumor on her abdomen needed to be removed, but they declined surgery and went home. They allowed the mass to grow and grow and finally ulcerate before they took her back to the vet. They were then told that it absolutely HAD to be removed. Instead, they decided to put her to sleep. Rescue was called and agreed to help. So now Maggie May is happy as can be in...

So now Maggie May is happy as can be in her Virginia foster home. She gets along fine with other dogs, ignores the cat and really just wants to be with her people. She will have surgery as soon as it can be scheduled. Maggie May May and Rescue would like to thank all of the kind people who have already donated to help with the cost of her surgery. UPDATE 7-22-2010: Maggie May is at home recovering from today's surgery. It was a long and involved procedure to excise this infected mass from her abdominal wall, but IT'S GONE! There was no sign of any cancerous growth and she'll be good as new.
