Macadamia is a young, beautifully marked calico cat who came into the West Milford Animal Shelter with a litter of young kittens. Even though she was a stray, she was very friendly, peaceful and loving. She also had an old injury to her right eye. Since the injury was never treated, she lost her sight in that eye. Her eye was cleaned and examined and she was allowed to stay with her kittens until they were old enough to eat on their own. After her kittens were weaned, given a medical exam, inoculations and were tested for FIV, they were put up for adoption. Since Macadamia no longer had kittens to care for, she was taken to an animal hospital for a more complete examination of her eye and it was determined it would be best to remove the eye to prevent future infections. Since Macadamia no longer had kittens to care for, she was taken to an animal hospital for a more complete examination of her eye and it was determined it would be best to remove the eye to prevent future infections. After the surgery, her eye was cleaned daily and she was given an antibiotic. She recovered very quickly and is now waiting for someone to adopt her that will only see her outward and inward beauty, not the stitched-up space where her eye used to be. Because of her injury, Macadamia should be an indoor cat only and would be better suited for a family without small children. All of Macadamia's kittens, except one, named Almond have been adopted.
