Jericho is a four to five year old blue & white bi-color persian. He is fully vetted (neutered, FIV/FELV negative, microchipped, wormed, vaccinated, flea treated), but not yet ready for his forever home yet! Jericho was rescued from a Texas area kill shelter - he had been found outside, a stray. When Jericho came to us, he was in horrible, horrible condition - he was so underweight that he was basically just a skeleton, he had little coat due to exposure and malnutrition, and he was INFESTED with fleas so badly that he was anemic!!
Time and food will take care of these issues easily, but Jericho has another problem for which we are seeking YOUR help to address! Jericho has a mass in his abdomen. We have already done some initial diagnostic testing, to try and figure out what the mass is, but more testing is needed. Jericho needs to have an x-ray and an ultrasound completed - and he may need to have...

We have already done some initial diagnostic testing, to try and figure out what the mass is, but more testing is needed. Jericho needs to have an x-ray and an ultrasound completed - and he may need to have exploratory surgery done. This cat is one of the most wonderful cats I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. He absolutely deserves every chance at a normal, pain-free life - so we are trying to give it to him!
Donations can be made by debit/credit card through Paypal (click on the link below) or can be called in directly to the Schertz Animal Hospital at (210) 659-0345. If you make a donation for Jericho at the vet clinic, please make sure to let them know to apply the money to the South Texas Persian Rescue account. And thank you all for your support of this wonderful, wonderful boy!!
UPDATE: 8-17-10: Jericho will be going to the vet on the 19th for further testing to determine what the mas in his abdomen is. We will let you know what the results are!
Sorry, we do not ship our cats or provide any transportation. All potential adopters should reside in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, New Mexico, or Louisiana. We will not adopt outside of these states.
Who We Are: We are a not-for-profit organization who is committed to helping Persians, Himalayans, exotic shorthairs, and ragdolls. All of our expenses are funded by personal and private donations. All of our cats are kept in foster homes - please note, we do not have a shelter facility, so appointments must be made prior to visiting foster homes. All of our cats are spayed/neutered, FIV/FELV tested, wormed, de-fleaed, and vaccinated prior to adoption.
Adoption Process: We require all potential adopters to fill out an adoption application prior to setting up an appointment to visit with the cat(s). We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. If you email us, we will provide you with an application by email.
Adoption Fees: Our adoption donation for persian, himalayan, ragdoll and Maine Coon breeds are as follows: adult cat is $150, a kitten is $175 to $275 - depending on age, gender, and breed of kitten. Other breeds may have differing adoption donation amounts, depending on the rarity of the breed (for example exotic shorthair adults are $200, rex breeds are $250 and up). Declawed cats add $25 to adoption donation. We occasionally have reduced fees - these will be noted on the individual cat's listing. If someone adopts more then one cat from us, we will reduce the subsequent adoption fee(s) by $25 to $50 (depending on age of cats/kittens adopted). WE ONLY ACCEPT ADOPTION DONATIONS MADE WITH CASH - WE DO NOT ACCEPT CHECKS! DONATIONS (NOT ASSOCIATED WITH AN ADOPTION) AND DEPOSITS CAN BE MADE BY DEBIT/CREDIT CARD THROUGH PAYPAL. The adoption fees help defray SOME of the costs associated with rescuing/fostering these kitties. Except for the persian, himalayan, and exotic shorthair cats listed on this site, South Texas Persian Rescue cannot guarantee the parentage or breed of cats on this site (unless otherwise noted that the cat is "purebreed"). Please note: if someone places a deposit on a cat/kitten to "hold" them until they are ready to go home, and the person changes their mind, the deposit is non-refundable - it is only refundable if the cat/kitten become unadoptable for some reason.
Donations are always welcome!
