8/2010 Hi, my name is Nia and I am a 4 month-old pure bred brindle Boxer girl. I am a friendly, affectionate, loyal and rambunctious pup who loves to play all day. I love all people and dogs and even cats!! I was born with a disorder called Cerebellar Hypoplasia, which disrupts the signal from my brain to my legs. (I kinda tend to forget about that, because it doesnt bother me one single bit!) My owner took me to the shelter, but the wonderful people at BRBR saved me when they saw how cute I was! Thank goodness, because with the help of my foster family, I have not only mastered walking, I can now run, and Im really fast, too!!! I have so much fun running fast I like to chase my fur foster brother when he runs. It makes me so happy! I am like any other normal puppy. Well, my foster mom says I am better than a normal puppy, because I have had to use my smarts to stay ahead of the game and get to this point. My intelligence, combined with my refusal to ever give up, makes me a very special dog. I am really looking forward to meeting my forever family and getting to show off my talents to them. Especially my kissing ability! MUAH!

Thought you all would enjoy seeing Nia's progress. Nia has cerebellar hypoplasia, which is a disorder that causes the signal from her brain to her legs to be a bit off. When I got her, she had a very hard time walking, but I initially had the thought that with enough exercise, her muscles would develop and as that happened she would be able to walk better. As you can see, in just about a month and a half, the progress has been unbelievable. Not only is she walking, she is RUNNING - just like any other puppy. She obviously has no idea that something is "wrong" with her. We are going to start working on steps soon. She can get down from and up onto the curbs, but steps are much more tricky. She will probably do best in a home without stairs that she has to maneuver.
Her fur foster brother is a young male Staffie, Boudreaux. Let me tell you, she has no problem holding her own with him. She is feisty, and has such a wonderful, loving personality. I am sure that we will have an easy time finding an adoptive family for her. She is absolutely an easy dog. No issues at all. She took to potty training really well and is so close to being "there." My kids and I just love her!
