Red Ear Sliders Turtle Turtle Manheim, PA

Currently we have a few sliders available for adoption. Please let us know if you would like to adopt one or two.


Red Ear Sliders are wonderful pet turtles in the right homes. Unfortunately, the vast majority of people who bring home a red ear slider will give it up in the first few years of its life, which may extend 50 years or more. They are produced by the million for the pet trade and given away at carnivals as prizes, or sold as impulse pets at boardwalks, dollar stores, or similar impulse venues. Red ear sliders are native to the southern U.S. and Central America. However, they are a hardy species and have become invasive in every continent but Antartica, challenging native turtles for food and habitat. Please never release your sliders in the wild!

Please understand:



1. We cannot ship reptiles so you must be able to pickup in the Lancaster, PA area. You can meet us at the Lancaster Herpetology Society each month (www.lancasterherp.org) or schedule a pickup time here in Manheim, PA 17545.




2. You must be 18 to adopt a reptile (sorry kids).




3. You must be willing to sign a no-breeding agreement and available for a home visit if needed.




4. Our #1 goal is to put our animals in the best homes and we reserve the right to deny applications for any reason. We are a very small nonprofit organization so thanks for understanding.
