Meet Hunter

Please request an online application at dogs@pethavennmn.org.

Breed: Hunter is a chocolate lab and possibly part Chesapeake Bay Retriever. Even though his name is Hunter he would not be a good candidate for a hunting dog. Loud noises scare him.

Age: 10 months

Good with dogs: yes

Good with cats: Unknown

Good with kids: yes

Weight: 52lbs but i should weigh about 60lbs

Name/Nicknames: Hunter-no nicknames…YET!

My Story: I came into Red Lake Rosie's Rescue on the Red Lake reservation as a stray. Pet Haven brought me to the cities to find my forever home.

Hobbies: I love my foster mom. Right now I am napping on her feet while she is on the computer. I would love to go to a cabin swimming and hiking.

Commands/Tricks: When i first came to the cities I was afraid of climbing stairs. But after the first night i was doing stairs like a champ. I also have learned my name in less than a week. I am working on sit.

Crate / Potty Trained:I am potty trained. I did ride all the way from Red Lake in a crate so I think it would be OK to be hanging out in one while you were at work. Someone that was home part of the day would be perfect.

Activity Level: Medium. I am only 10 months old but very calm for a young boy.

Fun things I do: I am just starting to play with toys. My foster springer brother goes wild chasing a tennis ball. I prefer to run after a rope toy. I am getting the hang of bringing it back so my foster mom can throw it again.

Socialization/who I currently live with: 1 adult, 1 teenage boy, and at least another medium male dog. We do have lots of different kids and dogs through here though. And I love them all.

Foster Notes: I am looking for an adoptive family that has time to spend with me as I am learning the ways of city life. Some sounds still scare me a little bit. I would need daily exercise and would love some kids to play with. I would be a great dog to camp with and go boating.

Hunter is attending Pet Haven's medium/large dog adoption events and his adoption fee is $350(cash or check only) and includes spay/neuter, heartworm check, current vaccinations, and microchip and registration.
Due to post-adoption services provided, it is Pet Haven's policy to only place dogs into homes within a 60-mile radius of the Twin Cities area.
