Disposition scale 1-9 (anxious-calm): 8
Favorite food/toy/treats: Love milk bones, treats, and peanut butter filled bones/toys. I do like to chew on a few toys every now and then.
Must be in a home that has the following: Someone to remind me I am not in charge- I attempt to be pretty dominant but am a pretty chill guy. While I do fine with a fur sister, fur brother and fellow fur foster puppy sister I might like being an only dog!
Medical issues: Heart Worms. Which are on their way out!
Needs work on: Being reminded I am not in charge of everybody
8/2010 Well, its Big W here. I have now been with my foster family about 7 weeks. During this time it has been a crazy summer at my home! I have seen lots of people come and visit and a few dogs come to visit as well. Everything is still good with me. I did start my heartworm treatment about a week ago. I check back in with the Vet for my second visit at the end of August. The hard part is over. Im hoping after the next visit I will be on my way to no heartworms! Which will be great because while I do enjoy some good relaxing naps and just hanging outI love to go on walks around the neighborhood with my leash. While I do fine with my pack and am now living the doggie lifestyle I have been called a bit of a loner. I am quite independent and am not that typical crazy boxer. I do love my family but dont worry about constant entertainment for me! As I said before I am turn key ready. Not one accident at all in my home. I sleep all night and wont really get up until people are moving around. While I am around the 4 year old mark everyone says I have an old soul. Im a big dude and move fairly slowly so I also have been called grandpa!! And for being such a big guy I am not a typical drooler like some of the other guys and I am even a much cleaner eater now!! Till next time, Walker 6/22/10
Hi everyone I'm Walker! I know you are noticing my big, gigantic handsome face and head! Don't you just love my droopy eyes too! I am probably going to be a big hug a lug very soon. I have been in my new foster home about 3 full days and am already being called nothing but love!
My physical appearance: As you see I am a fawn (with a tad bit of white splashed on me)and have the big ol' mushy face. I have natural ears and a docked tail. I am underweight (came into the rescue about 50lbs and around 55lbs right now) but I am going to be a big boy once I get up to my fighting weight!! Looks like I will get close to 80lbs. My feet are huge too. My foster fam is feeding chicken and brown rice a few times a day. My coat is pretty soft and semi full considering I have been missing out on nutrition and love. So watch me get even more handsome over the next few weeks!
My health: Thank goodness for Blue Ridge getting me into the rescue cause I apparently need a tad bit of doggie doctor love! I am apparently HW positive and I am getting ready to start my treatment so I will be all healthy for my new home. I will tell my foster parents to update everyone as soon as we get rolling in the next week or so.
My foster home: I have only been here 3 full days, but so far I am told I am perfect. I am getting along with a fur brother and sister. My fur brother is a tad crazy and I'm trying to figure out his style of playing. I am not crazy like him but I allow him to show me his moves and then I walk away. My fur sister is what people call a queen bee of the house. She gives me dirty looks sometimes but she started to lick me, so I think she is accepting me (maybe she is a little ticked off cause I lay in her bed, hee-hee). I met my fur neighbor, a lab who ran full on to visit me and I did fine. I have two foster human brothers that are 10 and 4 yrs. I like them just fine. I like everyone I meet and I already give kisses. I am what they call "turn key ready" with my behavior. I sit, I shake, I sleep thru the whole night with out getting up and I have not had one accident in the house. Everyone makes a big deal out of this for some reason. Are all dogs not like this? I am being crated when no one is home as apparently that's how these people do it. I hear they may try my free roam in the future but we are working the crate first! I have no problem being in the crate but you do have to throw a treat in there to make me follow it inside. I walk fine on a leash outside. We are not going on long neighborhood walks until we get back to my doggie doctor and get the scoop on my heartworm treatment.
I am a very sweet boy, I am still getting use to my house and surroundings. So I am watching and pacing around exploring. Two things for sure you must know about me....putting my cards on the table...I am a MESSY eater and I love this constant attention. I will nudge your hand to either play a little or get a lot of rubbing!
Keep checking back on me and I will update you all again soon when I can tell you about my routine and how my doggie doctor visits are going. I will also get some outside pics of me too!
6-9-10 As you can see Walker is in need of some TLC :( Please check back for progress updates on him.
