Iguana Mix: An adopted reptile in Bedford, NS

Iggi is an adult female Green Iguana estimated to be about 6 years old and 44 inches long. She was rescued and lived with her owner for the past 5 years. She is a healthy eater and enjoys a varied diet of collard greens, dandelion greens and blossoms, strawberries, mangoes, snap peas, and a variety of other Iguana-appropriate leafy greens, fruits and vegetables. She does not have any specific dislikes and is offered appropriate Calcium and multivitamin supplementation as required. With her previous owner, she was social and enjoyed attention; however she can be territorial in her enclosure and aggressive toward people when in a new environment. This behavior can be corrected with a few modifications to her enclosure and learned socialization techniques. We are confident that she will become a sweet and friendly Iguana with daily handling and a little patience. She would not do well cohabitating with other female Iguanas. Iggi's...

Iggi's enclosure is large and multi-leveled with ramps leading from one shelf to the next. It is 6 feet long, 6 feet high and 31 inches wide with a hide on the top level and a rope trapeze hanging from the top of the enclosure. She has two full-spectrum UV lights and a ceramic heat lamp that keeps the temperature in her enclosure between 85 and 90 degrees.
