Poodle Mix: An adopted dog in Memphis, TN

Harpo was adopted July 2010.

Harpo Silver tinged with apricot miniature poodle Young adult Male, neutered 13 lbs. Harpo is a young (approx. 12 mos.) handsome miniature poodle who has one of the best personalities his foster mother has ever encountered. He could easily charm all the judges in any dog show competition and would wow them strutting around the ring. Harpo was owner surrendered to Memphis Animal Services in April. Harpo is a bit thin but will easily gain weight now that he is eating a healthy diet on a regular basis. He loves everyone he meets, greeting them with a happy wag of his plumed tail. He gets along well with his foster dog siblings but of course, like any poodle, much prefers his human's company. Harpo is a stellar lap companion as well. Harpo is also housetrained. Harpo's shiny white teeth let us know he is not much over a year old and he is heartworm negative. He is neutered, up to date...

We adopt dogs from Memphis Animal Shelter when we can. The shelter has an 83% euthanasia rate, one of the highest in the country. Unfortunately, any dog coming from Memphis Animal Shelter, and most other shelters for that matter, will have been in contact with contagious illness. Even though the dogs have been in foster care and appear to be in good health, they may become stressed when changing environments and exhibit signs and symptoms of illness. If you have other pets, they need to be up to date on vaccines before bringing a shelter dog into your home. We will take the adopted animal back, but we are not responsible for your other animal's vet care. We always disclose where the dogs have come from. Please ask for any information about the dogs and exercise due caution if you have immunocompromised animals.
