Snickers is less than 2 years old and about 7 pounds... He is a GORGEOUSLY marked brown Brindle Chihuahua, who has let us do about anything with him as you can tell by the Doggles and flying scarf... Snickers is the 'poster boy' for "P.A.P.A.'s Flying Squandron" - an effort to relieve the huge volume of unwanted Chihuahuas here in Southern California by flying them to shelters and rescues in other part of this country that are begging for this fantastic breed - see their website for further details on this...

Snickers is well mannered, knows most of the basic dog commands, quiet and does not mark. He is exceptionally intuned to humans, but also gets along well with other dogs his size or smaller... He loves to cuddle and give out kisses without charge!

Snickers has now been seen by two different vets and his condition has been diagnosed as 'cornea edemia' (basically in layman's terms, an irritation of the cornea, a temporary condition treated by eye drops three times a day). We expect him to have a complete recovery and know he sees very well already, able to colors, images, light - sorta/kinda like looking through a dirty pair of eyeglasses or a shower curtain as it was explained to us. The last vet could not give us a reason for this (neglect? lack of medical attention? maced by someone?) but we are happy that we were able to step in and help him recover before the condition became so bad he lost his sight!

Tiny Loving Canines, Inc. (TLC) is a 100% volunteer, totally foster-based rescue that services Ventura County and some parts of the great Los Angeles areas. We specialize in small dogs under 10 pounds and pull dogs and puppies directly off of the kill lists. Because the Chihuahua is the most popular dog breed in our area, we rescue a lot of Chihuahuas and Chi mixes (ChiWeenies, Chugs, ChiTees, etc.). EVERY TLC dog or puppy will be spayed or neutered prior to adoption, up-to-date on their shots, inoculated for rabies (unless they are puppies and under the age of four months), microchipped and licensed for the County of Ventura. Each TLC dog comes with a one-year paid subscription to IDTag.com. Microchips are activated into the new owner's information at time of adoption; license is transferred over to the new owner as well. After one year, renewal of the IDTag program is at the discretion of the new owner. Every TLC dog or puppy receives a 50+ page adoption booklet, complete with copies of all documentation, certificates, etc. and post-adoption support from our dedicated volunteers. We are not a petshop - all of our dogs and puppies are fostered in our volunteers' homes.

Adoption events are held every Saturday from noon to 3PM in Moorpark, CA at the PETCO located on New Los Angeles Avenue. Home visits can be done at the same time. Otherwise, throughout the week, 'meet & greets' can be done by appointment only upon receipt of a completed adoption application faxed to us at 805-578-2604. We are a 501c3 nonprofit charity registered with the IRS and State of California (26-4639832). Accordingly adoption donations are nonrefundable but tax deductible (check with your accountant directly for further information)... not all rescues are alike - do your research before (and not after) an adoption.
