Tuli Border Collie & Terrier Mix Chestertown, MD

Tuli is our little static machine! She gets so fired up that she runs around the house and everytime she touches someone or something fabric you can hear her shocking it. That makes me laugh because it freaks my husband out, and she gets SO EXCITED to snuggle with him and he just wants her to take her static elsewhere.

We had company over this weekend including a 6 mo old puppy and she played very well with everyone, people included. She just makes people laugh, silly is just the only word that can describe her accurately! She doesn't bark a lot but when she does you need to be sure to put her in her place, just correct her well once and she'll respect your serious voice forever. Sometimes when the play gets really wild she starts barking at our dog. We try to discourage this behavior although we do let her be wild for a minute or two before we ask her to stop (she's just excited, but that's a personal preference to the home shes in, but she will listen if you ask her firmly to stop barking and just play quietly).

Tuli doesn't mind the cold weather and she really enjoys going for walks around the neighborhood, although indoors she wants nothing more then to snuggle up and get all toasty warm with you when you allow her the opportunity! She loves bones, tug toys, kongs, tennis balls... you name the toy and she'll play with it!

Tuli's such a joy, and as i mentioned she's so silly, once you see her personality you'll agree that there's no other word to describe her personality! She's a sweetheart and would love a forever home to play and snuggle in!

Update: 24 January

We've had Tuli for about a week now. She's the biggest snuggle bug ever! She's a silly little thing, only the second small dog we've ever fostered and as promised she's a bundle of energy however, she is not total chaos like some people would expect for a jack russel mix.

Tuli plays very well with others in a joyful and energetic way but is very glad to take a time out and snuggle up with you. She's a little hot box makes you all toasty and warm! When she is very full of energy and wants to snuggle you end up with a wiggle worm in your lap, that's when we tell her she's a static machine cause she gets rubbing up against you looking for love in a very energetic way and shocks you as much as possible!

Tuli is not into kisses but loves to touch noses with you when she's feeling affectionate. She kennels well but will occasionally bark if she feels she may convince you to let her out. From day one she's listened to me but it took a little more effort for my husband to find the right tone of voice to get her to believe him when he said no. She's definitely not a noisy dog, just looks at you quietly when you come in the door, she simply sometimes thinks she can get you to let her out.

Tuli loves to chew but luckily she doesn't find interest in chewing furniture, i have caught her running around with a slipper but she hasn't chewed it just seems to like to carry it and snuggle with it! She loves chew toys, kongs, nylabones, rawhides..... She is a great dog and would make a wonderful companion for a home looking for a good loving friend, cause that's EXACTLY what she is!!!

Update: 29 December

Tuli was an awesome little dog when she came in, and she continues to wow me. If I did agility, this little girl would be my next partner. Tuli has amazing recall and a rocking good attitude. She wants to please and wants to work inside a partnership, yet is forward and has no fear. Tuli is very food motivated and loves to be involved.

Tuli is a hot little number. She is bright and charming, and ready to rock and roll!! (Tuli is the little smooth coated, tri-colored dog in the video above).


Tuli is a year old (July 2009) and so has some puppy-stuff about her, but in many ways is very mature. Tuli is crate-trained, and housebroken, walks nicely on leash, has reasonable recall, is good with kids, cats, and dogs, and is food motivated.


Tuli will do best in an active home where training is part of the routine. She will do best with structure and challenges on a regular basis. Tuli would excel at agility, rally, or obedience and would make an excellent prospect for the serious, or casual competitor who likes to train.

An application must be submitted prior to 'matching' an adopter with a dog as all dogs do not fit into all homes. We pride ourselves in our adoption process, we take the time to get to know our adopters so that we can place a dog with them that they can enjoy for years to come.

Please understand that we will not discuss dogs with individual adopters until after the application process is completed.

Our rescue does not have a public facility, therefore there are no visiting hours. Appointments to visit with the available dogs are made after the application process has been completed by our staff.
