A few months ago on a quiet Saturday afternoon, we were visited by a frantic, young girl who has volunteered with us before. She said that she and her friends had found an injured cat in an abandoned house and asked if we could please go back with her to help. On the way, she said that it looked like one of his eyes had been stabbed out and the other one was huge and pouring out of his head. He also had an injured leg. We followed her back to the house expecting to see a horribly abused, tortured cat. What we found is almost more of a mystery. We found an abandoned home ready for demolition with Grizzly living in a filthy bathroom that was supposed to be a "pool" bath. The pool of course was empty and probably hadn't been used in years, but what a dangerous obstacle for an almost blind kitty! The first thing we did was feed him. The second thing was to take him to the vet. There we learned that he had once been very...

There we learned that he had once been very loved. He was neutered, front paw declawed, and had had one eye surgically removed due to complications with Glaucoma. People from neighboring houses said that no one has lived in that house for almost a decade. No one knows how he got there. He couldn't have been fending for himself, and the fencing kept him from leaving the property, so someone must have been bringing him food. We will probably never know the whole story. Here's what we do know. He's the most amazing, loving, cuddly boy ever! He's become a regular patient at the Eye Specialty Clinic. We have his Glaucoma under control with a couple of drops a day. His ankle which had been broken has healed great. He loves to be brushed and held. He loves catnip!! He is very vocal , (he squeaks) and makes the cutest noises when he eats. He will always need eye meds which we will continue to provide, but he also needs a home where he can have one on one love and attention and a safe environment that he can get used to. He has a very good sense of smell and uses his whiskers to direct himself through spaces. No one has ever met Grizzly and not fallen completely in love. Give it a shot! Help us find Grizzly his forever home for real this time.
