Labrador Retriever/Poodle Mix: An adopted dog in Thief River Falls, MN

Chester is a 2-yr old neutered Labradoodle. He came to us from a rescue group in ND who got him from a breeder who could no longer afford to feed his dogs. He is about 70 pounds - a large dog. Chester is a great dog - he has a wonderful attitude and seems to be happy all of the time. Chester was not around a lot of people during his first 2 yrs of life, so is a little skittish when he first meets new people. The longer he is at our shelter, the more comfortable he is when he meets new people. Chester does fine with most other dogs. He will act like an alpha dog if another dog challenges him. He loves to play. Chester has learned to climb fences, and he will occasionally do so if he thinks the action on the other side of the fence is better than where he is currently. He has shown no aggression toward either while spending time in the office with several cats & a two-year old girl. On warm days, Chester likes to sit in a pool to cool off. He would love a visit to a lake or river where he could go for a real swim. He does get nervous when leaving his home turf, though, so may take awhile to actually enjoy his outings. Chester is one of the goofiest & smartest dogs we've ever had at our shelter. He's loaded with personality & makes us laugh on a regular basis.
