UPDATE: 6 August Dan is really ready to be in his new home. For him to progress at this point, he needs to begin building a bond with his forever family, and learning about living in a home with a human and canine pack. Dan still has some issues on leash, he is somewhat unsure about moving forward in a straight line, but has come light years from his initial leash training. Long walks will solve this problem is short order. Dan will do best in a calm, quiet home that enjoys some training, but does not expect him to become a rockin' agility star. With calm, confident leadership, Dan will continue to unfold like a flower, one petal at a time. Dan is crate trained, and has a fairly solid temperament, other than being worried about strange things, he is curious and follows his leader. ************************* Dan is one of 8 border collies we have taken in the past few months from a puppy mill shut down by local authorities with the assistance of the HSUS.
Dan is healthy, and has a wonderfully gentle disposition. He is however, afraid of much of what the world has to offer, and needs strong, calm, confident leadership. Dan is thriving on the structure I am providing, he looks to me for guidance and safety, and will continue that once in his new home.
Dan will do best in a home will to provide structure and leadership, accompanied by exercise and training. He is crate trained, learning how to walk on leash, and to interact with humans, dogs, and cats. Dan does not want to be shy, and is quickly moving forward to greet the world.
Rescuing animals is quite expensive. If you are unable to adopt, but would like to help this, or any other animal in our system, please consider a sponsorship donation.
For information on our sponsorship program, please contact Sarah at SLR@mabcr.org.
Please go to our main website at www.mabcr.org for more information regarding the adoption of this or any dog from our rescue.
Please note that while this dog is currently available, any dog on our site may have an adoption pending and may not be available to you at this time. The same dog may later become available if the adoption falls through.
Our website www.mabcr.org will give you details on our adoption procedures as well as an application for adoption. An application must be submitted prior to 'matching' an adopter with a dog as all dogs do not fit into all homes. We pride ourselves in our adoption process, we take the time to get to know our adopters so that we can place a dog with them that they can enjoy for years to come.
Please understand that we will not discuss dogs with individual adopters until after the application process is completed.
Our rescue does not have a public facility, therefore there are no visiting hours. Appointments to visit with the available dogs are made after the application process has been completed by our staff.
To assist any dog within the MABCR organization, please consider making a donation to the general fund or to the medical fund. All dogs coming into our rescue are fully vetted (s/n and innoculations) prior to adoption.
