As you can see, I am a gorgeous (even if I do say so myself) long haired Calico. I came to Animal Aid from the Klamath Falls Humane Society before Valentine's Day in the hopes that someone needed some love for the special day, but I'm still waiting.
I decided to make the best of the time here by being ready to go home at a moments notice. I had a spa day a couple weeks ago with a brushing, nail trim and runway trim! I'm also brushing up on my wand toy skills. I've actually gotten out of my bed a few times to chase after that darn string.
It has been very difficult with the strange new home, smells, cats and people but you can see that I enjoy the petting now. Being a Lady, I am a bit reserved and am not one to crawl all over you begging for attention like some of...

It has been very difficult with the strange new home, smells, cats and people but you can see that I enjoy the petting now. Being a Lady, I am a bit reserved and am not one to crawl all over you begging for attention like some of the cats here. After all, I am a Lady, but that doesn't mean I don't want love and attention like any normal cat. A real ice breaker for me is a little wand toy action followed by a sniff of the hand before touching and when I lower my head you'll know I'm ready for a gentle pet. Before long I get elevator butt and then it's hard not follow that with a hardy flop and roll! I also enjoy relaxing.
Here are some new videos of me: Here I am watching the rain on a Saturday afternoon. And here I am trying to catch a mouse under the door. Got it!
I was born in 2007.
Some of the kitties here have had good luck by writing a blog so that you can find out more about us, so I thought I'd try that. Here we go!
LADY'S BLOG
8/6/10 -- I've been at Animal Aid for about six months now. Most of the time I shared a small room with one or two other cats, but last week they moved me to the kitchen so I have a larger area to live in and I get more attention from people. Mitzi used to live in the kitchen but she has been promoted to greeter cat. I heard she's doing a really good job. 8/15 -- I like living in the kitchen. I'm not as lonely and they put a small cat tower in there for me. It is just about the height of the table so I can sit right next to it and watch people having their lunch or preparing plates of food for all the cats. There's not always activity there so I get some quiet time too. The only problem is often people walk right past going into the kitten room and they don't even see me. If you come to the shelter, make sure you check out the kitchen and say hi! Maybe I can win you over once you pet my soft, fluffy fur.
Next week I'll give you a tour of my room. 8/21 -- It wasn't a bad week except sometimes the kittens in the kitten room next door escape into the kitchen and I find myself being run over by Lewis and Clark. They are so fast that the volunteers have to chase them around the table a few times before they catch them.
I promised you a tour of my room, so here it is. Ok, it's just a kitchen but you can see that I'm enjoying myself having more room to walk (and roll) around. I get more sunshine than the room I was in before. I heard a rumor that I might be moving to the reception area as a greeter cat in a few weeks. I'd like that, but I'd like a real home better. 8/28 -- I got some exciting news. I'm one of the featured cats in the September issue of Spot Magazine. Check your vet clinic or pet food stores for a copy, or you can pick one up when you come to Animal Aid to visit me! Mitzi was featured too. I hope we both get lucky and find homes.
My blogger spent some time with me today. I was sitting on the floor so she laid down there with me. She'd pet me and I'd roll over and flirt. When I had enough petting, I'd put my paw on her hand and she'd stop and we'd have a little break and just talk for a while. Then we'd start all over again. It was a good day. 8/4 -- The kittens keep running out of their room into my room whenever people open the door. They're fast little things and the volunteers go scrambling to catch them. Today Jack got the laser light out and pointed it into their room. They chased the light and voila they were back where they belong.
I heard Lewis, Clark, and Abbott may be moving to the main room because some new kittens are coming in. Randy might be adopted soon so Abbott is going to be losing another good friend. He's a cute guy with wild hair. I don't know why no one picks him.
Some visitors immediately reach over and pet me. Sometimes I swat at them. It's not like I know them. How would you feel if a complete stranger came up to you and started stroking your hair. What? You don't think so?! That's how I feel too. Could you please be polite and say Hi Lady, sit there for a few seconds, then move your hand towards me so I can sniff it. Ok, we have officially met. You can pet me now. Even though I'm homeless and in a shelter, I'm a proud cat and I try to keep my dignity. Once we know each other, then you can pet me and I will roll over and flirt and be silly. Thank you for respecting me.
I heard that Amy went into a foster home so they may try me out in the reception area with Mitzi. I'll find out more next week. 9/11 -- Some good news and some bad news. I won't be moving into the reception area with Mitzi. They moved Whiskers there instead of me. His former owner let him go outside and he was shot and can use some extra care.
Now for the good news. I'm on the short list of an adopter. She said it's between Muffin (who is in a foster home), Mitzi, and me! One of us will get lucky. I know I should hope for Mitzi because she's been here the longest, but I need a home too! I think we'll find out this coming week. 9/18 -- This will make you laugh. The kittens have started to win me over. They are so quick at escaping their room, that the volunteers give up when they're cleaning and just leave the door open between the kitten room and my room. They always run up and try to tease me and get me to play. I thought I was too mature for that sort of silliness, but lately I've gotten into the spirit of it all. They're a lot of fun. I even let them steal some of my food. When they slow down enough, I wrap my paw around them and groom them. They like it and so do I. You never know, maybe someone will adopt me with one of the kittens. 10/2 -- Had some new photos taken. I think that's a very pretty headshot of me. Everyone says how well I am doing and how I have come out of my shell. Won't someone please give me a chance? 10/9 -- Three more black kittens came to the shelter. At least two of them have some tortie markings so they're not solid black. Here's my view from the kitchen. It's a stack of black fur with 12 eyes. I don't know why these guys haven't been adopted yet. They're friendly, happy little kittens. If they're not finding homes, what chance do I have? 10/16 -- Crissy's mom said that Crissy was a lot like me when she lived at the shelter. Crissy swatted at her the first time they met, but she didn't take it personally and gave Crissy a chance. She realized how stressful life in a shelter can be and knew that her love would help Crissy blossom into a loving cat. Now Crissy is a lapcat and cuddles up every night. Her mom is amazed at how sweet and loving she has become. I would be so lucky if I could find a family like that. 10/30 -- People meet me, say what a beautiful cat I am and what a great cat I am and then they adopt another cat. Why aren't I special enough to anyone to want to take me home and make me part of their family? 11/14 -- Yesterday was a busy day. Lots of people coming and going. Most people said I was pretty, some petted my tummy but no one was interested in adopting me. I heard that Mitzi is going to be going home around Thanksgiving! I'm so happy for her. She has been at the shelter nearly two years. That's the good news. The bad news is that it means that Spike and I will have been at the shelter the longest. It will be a year in February. I guess we'll have to be patient a little longer. 11/20 -- Bad news for Mitzi. They were worried about her safety living with a Jack Russell Terrier and decided that they shouldn't take the risk so she'll be staying at the shelter. Lots of people coming in the kitchen for cookies and snacks, so at least I have visitors during the day. I get really lonely after the caregivers go home. I'm alone a lot. I watch the kittens play through the glass door. At least they have each other to cuddle with. Sorry I'm so sad this week. Maybe it's beacause I know I won't be going home for the holidays. 11/27 -- I've got a routine now. When a volunteer or visitor comes in the kitchen, I flop over, roll on my side, and let them pet my tummy. Do you think that will win someone over? Everyone says I'm so pretty and can't imagine why I haven't been adopted yet. Don't hate me because I'm beautiful! the holidays. 12/2 -- You are NOT going to believe it, but I am going home on Saturday!!!! And Max, a handsome orange boy, is going home with me!! It's amazing how quickly life can turn around. I had no hope a week ago. One person has changed my future. Three days to go!! 12/3 -- Tomorrow is my big day! Max and I are going home. I've dreamed of this for a long time and wondered if I would ever get a chance. I know it will be a little scary for both of us, but we will have our own person to love who will love us back. I'll be able to go into all the rooms, not just the kitchen. Max can explore the house. We are so excited One more blog to go.12/5 -- Yesterday came and went and I am still here. My new mom had an emergency to attend to and had to postpone our adoptions for a few weeks. She saw how close Max and Spike were so she said if someone wanted to adopt me instead, she'd take both of them so they didn't have to be separated. So I'm still available if anyone is interested in adopting me. 12/18 -- If all goes as planned, this will be my last weekend at the shelter. Max and I are scheduled to go home next week. We're pretty excited. I haven't met Max yet but we're both a little shy and both playful so I think we'll be good friends.
I want to thank everyone at the shelter who did their best to make my stay a happy one. You helped me gain the confidence I needed.
One last thing before I say goodbye. I'd like to turn my blog over to Abby, a beautiful Norwegian Forest/Maine Coon mix. She has been waiting a long time for a home. Maybe a blog will bring her some luck.Bye!
