Meet Martin

UPDATE: 6 August
Martin has come a long way during his time here with us. Initially, Martin felt most dogs were dangerous and was always on the offensive. After some time with calm leadership, Martin understands that most dogs are cool, and are not to be concerned with. He still is far better with bitches, but calmly tolerates dogs as well. He only worries and behaves defensively now if another dog acts in a threatening manner.

Martin is attentive and affectionate and is quick to learn. He can be laid back, or ready for a nice hike when you are.

Martin appears to be housebroken, is crate trained, walks reasonably well on leash and would make an excellent companion for someone looking for a buddy dog. He will do better long term in a home with bitches, rather than dogs, but I feel he will adjust to whatever his leader asks him to. He would also be very happy living in a home without other dogs.

**************
Martin is an adult who was kenneled without the company of many dogs. He is lovely with humans, sweet, affectionate, mannerly...but is on guard with other dogs (mature males being the main issue). I have not had the time needed to really work hard on Martin, but I feel strongly that in the right hands he will come past his issues. Martin responds very well to confident leadership, and responds easily to the slightest correction.

Martin will do best in a home with experience, and access to classes and a trainer. He will thrive with someone interested in training and directing his intense curiosity and need for mental direction. Martin has shown he enjoys the company of female dogs, and would do well with a calm leader-type female or two for companionship.

Rescuing animals is quite expensive. If you are unable to adopt, but would like to help this, or any other animal in our system, please consider a sponsorship donation.
For information on our sponsorship program, please contact Sarah at SLR@mabcr.org.
Please go to our main website at www.mabcr.org for more information regarding the adoption of this or any dog from our rescue.

Please note that while this dog is currently available, any dog on our site may have an adoption pending and may not be available to you at this time. The same dog may later become available if the adoption falls through.

Our website www.mabcr.org will give you details on our adoption procedures as well as an application for adoption. An application must be submitted prior to 'matching' an adopter with a dog as all dogs do not fit into all homes. We pride ourselves in our adoption process, we take the time to get to know our adopters so that we can place a dog with them that they can enjoy for years to come.

Please understand that we will not discuss dogs with individual adopters until after the application process is completed.

Our rescue does not have a public facility, therefore there are no visiting hours. Appointments to visit with the available dogs are made after the application process has been completed by our staff.

To assist any dog within the MABCR organization, please consider making a donation to the general fund or to the medical fund. All dogs coming into our rescue are fully vetted (s/n and innoculations) prior to adoption.
