Bella was first discovered taking refuge under a bush in someones back yard. She had been abandoned. She was starving, severely matted, blind in one eye, deaf and declawed. In the months following her rescue, Bellas overall health improved with rest and good nutrition. She is almost totally deaf but sometimes a loud noise, such as calling her name, will elicit a response. Bella has some arthritis in her back legs which causes her to move deliberately and s-l-o-w-l-y at times. Her age is estimated to be around 9 years old and she has endured a hard life but in spite of her obvious physical trials, Bella is in good health. Throughout her ordeals she has remained happy and composed as a princess.
Bella suffered a setback in November, 2010 when she suddenly lost vision in her one remaining good eye. She is now totally blind, although she does sometimes raise her head to a bright light leaving us to believe she is able to see...

She is now totally blind, although she does sometimes raise her head to a bright light leaving us to believe she is able to see shadows and light from time to time. Unfortunately, it has been determined that there is nothing which can be done to restore Bellas vision, which has been diagnosed as congenital eye disease compounded by untreated eye infections in her youth and the onset of glaucoma during her hardship years.
In spite of this recent setback, Bella is still a sweet and serenely happy girl. When she wants attention, she will meow until a hand materializes to stroke her face and scratch her chin. She is entirely cage bound now and loves to nap curled up in a little furry ball. She knows exactly where to find her food, water, blanket, litter box and her favorite catnip mouse, which is tied to the side of her cage so she doesnt lose it. She is the same happy kitty she has always been and when she senses someone approach, she will immediately begin to purr and raise her head for pets and snuggles.
Currently Bellas favorite past time involves snuggling in a soft blanket in her foster mothers arms while being petted and generally fussed over. She will customarily end taking a little nap, blistfully purring full tilt. She remains a happy and contented soul who purrs at the slightest provocation and retains a very healthy appetite. Bella has adjusted to total blindness with the same grace and composure which has become her trademark and with good care and an attentive and loving home, we believe she make some lucky person a loving companion for many more years to come.
Bella is spayed, has tested negative for Felv and FIV and has been vaccinated.
