Meet Annabelle
Age: 5 years
Weight: 17 lbs (should be 11)
"Perfect" is the best way to describe Annabelle, says her foster mom. She is just flawless. Annabelle was more than likely a puppy mill momma. Then on top of it she came to us heartworm positive. She got through treatment with no issues, though! She’s extremely loving and nurturing and undeniably loyal to her person. She grows very attached to one person at a time. She is by her foster mom's side at all times and is shy around new people. Annabelle is a little unsure of men, but she will follow her foster dad around the house every now and then.
She is fostered in a home with an infant, and she does very well being around him. Annabelle has been potty trained from the start and has never had an accident in the house. She will not ask to go out and instead works around your schedule. She walks well on a leash and does fine riding in cars. She is crate trained. Annabelle is happy sleeping anywhere that there is a warm blanket she can snuggle in. She gets along well with cats and all size dogs. She loves to play with her foster brothers and sisters (especially tug-of-war!) so she would do well in a house with other dogs, but we think she would also be fine without them as long as there is someone around to give her lots of love and attention.
Annabelle was previously free-fed and she therefore ate as much as she could probably thinking it could be her last meal. Little did she know that there would be more food the next day and the next...so the pounds have piled on! She is now eating two meals daily that are portioned appropriately, and she has no complaints. It just may take awhile to get her weight back to where it needs to be, and she will always need to be fed separately from other pets to keep her weight in check.
