Meet Courtesy Post/Kork

Korky has been adopted. This is a courtesy posting but we are screening applicants because she is a special needs dog. Here is the bio her current owner presented to us. She is in Huntington Beach. Korky is a very loving Tri-color Pembroke Welsh Corgi. She will be 6 years old Oct. 2010 and weighs 35 lbs. She loves to snuggle with her people whenever possible. She loves going for walks, and is playful with toys. She is tolerant of children - to a point. She allows them to play with her and handle her, but will start barking and sometimes nipping if there is too much loud noise and commotion. She does bark excessively at people who come to the door, or perceived threats. She is partially house-trained. She mostly remembers to wait until outside, but has occasional accidents. This may be remedied with some consistent training. Korky needs to be in a home where the owners are present most of the time, and allow her to interact with them throughout the house. Quiet, calm children may live there, or It also needs to be a home with no other dogs. She will attack other dogs. The new owners need to be knowledgeable about and time-available for some obedience training. She will bolt from the house if doors are left open, and does not quickly respond to directives to return. Some history: Ours is the fourth home she's been in. The first two had other dogs, and found that she did not interact well there. By her behavior, it appears there was some abuse as well, which may have contributed to that behavior. The third was the Corgi rescue home, then ours. We do not have other dogs, but live in a neighborhood where other dogs are often out, and when she does "escape" from the house, she has attacked those dogs. She is spayed, microchipped, and just had shots in October. She is a wonderful companion dog, and we are sad to see her go. However, we know our schedules make it impossible to provide the kind of home she needs. We will be happy to have any person interested in her come to our home. Bringing her around other dogs would not be a good idea.
