Treeing Walker Coonhound/Foxhound Mix: An adopted dog in Ontario, ON

True to his nature, Toby is an energetic, enthusiastic, and friendly soul.  If you are looking for a buddy to be your walking companion, Toby is your guy.  He is curious, outgoing and game for whatever comes his way.  Toby travels well in the vehicle, and not shy about getting into, or out of it.  Toby has won over the hearts of everyone he has met by being respectful, not overly attentive, and generous with his deference for people.  He does not jump up, bark at, or crowd visitors.

 Toby has settled into his foster home easily.  He is enamored with the kitten in the home, and the kitten reciprocates the feelings.  Toby is not rough with the kitten despite being the victim of some sneak attacks, and clearly the power balance is in favour of the kitten.  Toby generously allows the kitten to eat out of the kibble bowl with him, and has not shown any food aggression towards the other hound in his foster home or the humans in the home either. he's a wonderful boy with a laid back personality, all the way around. :)

 Despite his natural inclination to be busy and inquisitive, Toby is easily settled into his crate.  He has never challenged the confines of the crate, nor has he ever messed in his crate.  He accepts the limitations, and has no problem spending all night in the crate without fuss, and patiently awaits his release in the morning. Toby has proved himself to be such a wonderful companion to his cat and dog friends that his foster family has learned that he doesn't need to be crated. He doesn't get "into" things while his foster family is away from home and Toby is such a sweet, very laid back boy who loves everybody. Toby is left to lounge around the house when we are out of the home, and again, there have been no messes, difficulties or concerns.

 This wonderful dog responds well to “NO” and is readily redirected. Toby is fully house trained and behaves wonderfully when left alone. Toby is not food motivated; he is just naturally willing to do as he is asked, as long as he understands what is being asked of him. He's a real people pleaser and loves to want his owner to be happy. Toby is the type of dog who is very easily read; his wiggling bum and hips gives him away when he is happy, and a confused look and a still stance lets one know when he needs more direction.  Toby shows his affection by rubbing up against you, and waits for his pat.  He especially likes to do this when he anticipates having his leash put on, as this signals his chance to explore the world. He's between 5 and 7 years young.
