Buttercup is a sweet, very shy little girl who would love to be in a quiet home with other dogs and human adults. Now about 7 years old, this 6 lb. Chihuahua was neglected as a youngster is only now discovering the world much like a puppy would. New people and new things can be frightful!

Buttercup is making huge strides in overcoming her fears. She enjoys being around other dogs and has learned a lot from her foster Chihuahua sister. She likes to find a sunny spot for a snooze, and she likes playing with her toys as well as her foster sister. Buttercup has learned how to walk on leash and how to ask for attention politely. She also loves wearing clothes. Haute couture might be her ultimate wardrobe style!

Buttercup is almost completely potty trained. She goes outside through the pet door on her own without prompting. She likes grass but will also go on concrete or any other available surface.

Buttercup is extremely shy because of abuse early in her life. She will need someone who is patient enough to wait for her to approach them. Once you’ve earned her trust, she’ll jump on your lap and settle in. At night, she sleeps mostly in her own bed, but if it’s cold she will crawl under the bedcovers and snuggle up to you.

Buttercup loves her food, and she loves her cookies. This can make training and building trust with new people really fun!
