SSsssssss.....my name is Lolita. I am a BEAUTIFUL ball python who is approximately 4 years old. I love to slither around my enclosure and keep to myself. People tell me that I am tame, but I become stressed by handling. I would prefer a home that is not busy and is very calm. With those surroundings, that allows me to meditate in peace. I do NOT eat live prey and prefer frozen-thawed mice. Because of my species and special needs, I would LOVE someone who has a lot of experience and LOVE to provide to me.

The rescue group EARPS requires an adopter with references & prior successful experience handling snakes like me.

I have some habits that you should be aware of. I am nocturnal and I tend to stay in my hut on the warm side of my enclosure during the day and ventures out at night. Because I am easily stressed by handling, I can be nippy if stressed or particularly around feeding times. I am a good eater, so I just want you to feed me!

Sadly, I have some possible early signs of a potential neurological problem that needs to be watched for reoccurence. I snap at empty air occasionally and I have bitten myself once during feeding time and once unprovoked.

I do like fresh, lukewarm water for soaking. I just LOVE snake spa days.

I have a prefered enclosure set up to keep me happy. Please create a thermogradient by maintaining "cool" and "warm" sides of her cage at 70-75 degrees on the cool side and 85 degrees on the warm side with a basking spot around 90 degrees. Use reptile bark as a substrate with moss that can be dampened to provide additional humidity during the times that I shed. I have had some past difficulties fully shedding.

Here is an Inventory of EARPS equipment: 75 gallon aquarium, two wooden branches, faux rock hut, hollow log hut, grey faux stone water dish, three lamps with two ceramic heaters and one 60 watt night light bulb.

Additional info: Spot clean to remove feces/urates and shed skin. Feed frozen/thawed large mice (brand previous foster used Arctic Mice, available at Petsmart). Thaw mice in plastic baggie in a bowl of hot water until warm to the touch before offering. I am unaccustomed to a live-prey diet and I often do not attempt to suffocate her mice before consuming them, which can be dangerous to me. EARPS maintains non-aggressive feeding techniques. Feed in a separate feeder cage .
