Hammie Greyhound Mix Inver Grove Heights, MN

Hammie is a 2-yr-old ex-racing greyhound. His racing name is Post Time Hammer. We consider Hammie to be a "mild special needs" hound, because he will require a little extra potty training help from his new family. But we know that he can be successful with a little encouragement from a loving home.

Hammie has an absolutely wonderful personality. He adores people, likes to lean on you and snuggle. He is quite large and solidly built for a greyhound, but he is a lap dog at heart.

He does like to be the boss of the male dogs. The ideal home for Hammie would include someone who is at home a fair amount of time during the day to help housetrain him and bond with him. He is really a dog who will want to be with his people. Other female dogs should be no problem for Hams, and we would consider placing him with another male on a case-by-case basis after having them meet and see what they think of each other. Similarly, we would place him in a home with cats on a case-by-case basis, although we suspect that he would be tolerant of most cats. We believe he would do fine with small kids who know how to treat a dog respectfully.

We have had him out to numerous festivals and events, and he is a love. I know that if not for his size and color, he would have been adopted already.
