Meet Madonna

Madonna is a purebred Himalayan. She was owned by a lady who kept her indoors and intended to breed her. The lady became very sick and experienced severe financial difficulties. One day she moved from her apartment and left Madonna behind. The janitor of the building found the cat in an empty apartment several days after the move. The lady left no forwarding address so the janitor called Cat Rescue Network.

Shortly after intake Madonna gave birth to four kittens, but one did not survive. She is a wonderful mother to the remaining three. We had been told that she had never been outdoors, and was never bred so the kittens were a surprise, hence we named her Madonna.

Madonna is a very affectionate cat and has developed cute little personality traits. This is what the foster mother writes: "This is the lowest maintenance mom I’ve had. She won’t let our cat into her room but she doesn’t go hunting for him either: it’s more a boundary thing. As for the dogs: the rescue stays downstairs and Gaston our new dog will lie down in the bedroom and she comes out to lie in front of him with some distance but she seeks him out as long as he doesn’t come near the closet where the kittens are. He respects her closet and they can be in the same room peacefully. It’s quite funny. He rarely goes in the room except at night when my daughter is getting ready for bed. She stays with her kittens most of the time: walking about the house at night. She purrs and enjoys affection. We are happy to foster her!"
