Meet Helen

Helen of Bushwick was rescued as part of a colony of cats living in Bushwick. She was suffering from a severe eye infection, malnourishment and dehydration. Helen appeared out of nowhere in the backyard of a friend of an ECC volunteer, seemingly wanting to be rescued from her difficult life. Helen lost sight as a result of her eye infection, an unfortunate and all too common occurrence amongst some stray cats surviving the brutal life of the streets. Helen is under 2 years of age and a quietly playful, gentle and loving soul. She navigates herself around as well as any sighted cat and is a remarkable inspiration of strength and will to live.
