Arrival story:This little cutie was so cold and scared in a shelter. How he ended up there is a mystery.

Approximate age / weight:1-1/2 years/ 12.2 lbs.

Personality: Oscar is a shy little guy who warms up gradually if you take your time with him. He does really well with other dogs and has no problem making himself right at home.

Oscar is a busy little man, just busy, busy, busy. He carries his toys from room to room all day rearranging them. But when he rests, he's out for 20 minutes or so, then he's off again.

Oscar can chew his way through a nylabone in a matter of hours when he sets his mind to it. He carries shoes and moves them, but he doesn't chew them, just moves them. He is fully house trained and sleeps all night in his crate. As long as he is around you he is happy.

Oscar comes when he is called and is doing well learning his basic commands and leash training. Oscar loves to go for walks, just not very long ones. He roams around the yard like he's king of all he surveys and defends it loudly (i.e. barks at other dogs), but he gets along well with others. He is still kind of hand shy, although he is getting more confident every day.

Forever home: Oscar would do best in a home where someone is home most of the day and a home without small children. It must be the beagle in him, but Oscar gets on a scent and will follow his nose, so a fenced yard is preferable. We're unsure of how he is with cats.

Waggin' Tails Adoption Information: Waggin' Tails Dog Rescue has a standard adoption fee of $175 for adult dogs. Different adoption fees apply for older dogs, small breeds and puppies - $100 for senior dogs (9 years +), $275 for small breed dogs and $200 for puppies plus a $50 deposit which is returned upon proof of spay/neuter at six months of age.
Our adoption process includes an application, vet reference checks, and a home visit.

Arrangements can be made to meet our rescue dogs outside of Saturday adoption events after an approved application is submitted (the application does not imply an obligation by the applicant or by the rescue group).
