SUSHI Domestic Long Hair & Tabby Mix Grand Rapids, MI

Cute as a button and as beautiful as a springtime butterfly, 3 year old SUSHI (born around July of 2007) initially came to us back in August of 2008. Kentwood resident Eiko Kondo has befriended this homeless girl, but her grumpy old cat wouldn't allow her to keep Sushi in the house. Not too long after we got this pretty lady, she became ill with a nasty upper respiratory infection that sadly claimed her right eye:( See, the thing is, when these cats are left to fend for themselves outdoors, having had no vaccines series as young kittens, their immune system lacks the proper antibodies to fight off infection when they become exposed to viral illnesses. So when Sushi got infected, the secondary infection of a weakened cornea caused the eye to perforate, and I had to remove it.

Now Sushi doesn't know she has a slight handicap, nor would you ever know she went through so much at such a young age:) She is a resilient little trooper with a charm and poise about her that just melts your heart. in fact, soon after she recovered, volunteer Tad Tafelsky took her home, where she lived in peace and harmony with Mackie (see bio) and two others, until Tad's severe allergies forced him to return her to us this April. Sushi is having a great time back here with us at Crash's as she is fast to make friends, feline and human, and loves all of the attention she is getting from volunteers and visitors. I don't see her staying with us for very long!

Kudos to Eiko and to Tad for giving this great gal the opportunities she has had so far:) And thanks to the fabulous Girl Scout Troup #03534 for sponsoring her for an entire year!!!
