Edward Tabby Mix Ottawa, ON

Nov 11, 2014 - Edward and Abigale have been adopted together. They are 5 or 6 years old, were part of a large Barn Cat Rescue done jointly by Country Cat and CRN. Gwen took 18 of the cats to keep them together CRN took 8, including Abigale and Edward, into foster homes to be socialized.

After a year Abigale and Edward were adopted together to a great home where they remained for 5 years. Then their owner suddenly became very ill (or injured) and would never be able to return home, if he even survived. Abigale and Edward were taken to the Humane Society under an order of protection (when police or ambulance are called to a home with pets). Their 8 days were almost up, in fact I contacted OHS on day 8,when a family member remembered where they came from and contacted me.

They were released to CRN and Gwen from Country Cat took them to the sanctuary. They loved it there..all the other cats and the outdoor runs, but they clearly wanted more attention than volunteers could provide; although they got a lot of attention.

A CRN volunteer referred a close friend to us and they were very interested in Abigale and Edward. The rest is history. They now have a home together, with a few other cats, and will always have a back up home either at Country Cat Sanctuary or with CRN

This is their history:

June 11/14 - Edward was returned to Cat Rescue Network. His owner had become seriously ill and relinquished his pets quickly to the Humane Society, then a relative contacted Cat Rescue Network. We were permitted to take them back and will try to find them another good home.

May 15/10 - Today little Edward was adopted with his sister Abigale. Their new caregiver has one cat and a beautiful big outdoor cat run so the three can enjoy the fresh air but still be safe. We wish Abigale and Edward a long and happy life with their new family.

This is their story:-) Edward was born in Spring 2008. He is one of two kittens protected by Charlie, a big snaggled toothed Tom when they were rescued from an abandoned farm. Edward and his sister Abigale are doing well in their foster home. Edward, is a little shyer than his sister Abigale but he does enjoy attention. He likes to sit on knees, be petted and be played with but is not keen on being picked up.

This is what Edwards foster mother says about him.

"As long as Edward knows a person, he's right out there where you can see him and pat him -- and he approaches and gets on laps, purrs and rubs his face up against you -- when placed in his new forever home it may take him a little time to adjust and my guess would be about a week. He likes high places, it seems, and I often find him sleeping on the top shelf of my bedroom closet or inside a basket I have on top of another shelf in my bedroom. He and his sister Abby sometimes sleep together but not always -- Abby never goes up to Edward's favourite closet space, but she'll sometimes go to a box that's close to the other basket where Edward goes. They look really cute peeking over the edges of their boxes if I go into the room and call their names. Edward likes playing, so an animal companion would be nice -- he and Abby chase each other around, watch each other and pounce -- they're both really active.

We would very much like him to be adopted with Abigale because they are bonded, and have been through a great deal together."

Edward would be better off without small children who may be noisy and unpredictable."
