Meet Buck

Buck will make a wonderful family dog! He is great with children and gets along well with other dogs. He isn't cat friendly however. He is extremely frightened of thunder storms - he has medication that he takes to help him during those times. He would do best as an only dog or maybe a second dog. He loves to play in the yard so a big yard would be a plus. He is a great boy!
September 2009: Buck is just great. His new nickname is "lovejoy" because he is full of love and just so happy. He greats along with two male weims, a female weim, one large mix breed female and one male Yorkie. He wants to play with them all. He greats along with kids ages 5 and up. He grumbles very little now when he has to share the water bowl or the couch with another dog. He is learning that shares is not so bad. April 2009: Buck is now heart worm negative and neutered. He is housebroken, crate trained and learning social skills with other animals and large groups of people. It is great to see him initiating play with other male dogs and sleeping on the couch with two other male Weims. He is making progress. Buck is not cat or small dog friendly. It won't be much longer and he will be ready for a forever home.
02/05/09:Buck is now in a foster home receiving heartworm treatment. He is very gentle, crate trained and is timid around other dogs. Daily is coming out of his shell and learning to trust his new environment. More updates soon.

Buck was found running loose in a neighborhood. The person that found him tried to return him to his owner but the owner said he didn't want him anymore and to take him to the shelter. How sad for this sweet boy.
Someone spent some time with him. He is very gentle when taking treats out of your hand. He is calm and well mannered. He knows how to sit, shake and lay down.
Buck is UTD on shots, but unfortunately, he's heartworm positive. He started his heartworm treatment today.
