Meet Maurice

Hi! I'm Maurice! I'm a big 12 pound Flemish Giant. I have gorgeous white fur and brown markings. My mom was rescued right before she gave birth to me and my siblings several years ago. I was adopted and then returned to Hug-a-Bunny when my family no longer wanted me. I crave attention and love. Although I am neutered, healthy, and perfect with my litterbox, I do have a spraying problem that prevents me from finding the home I deserve. I'm happy living in my foster home until my "forever home" comes along. I'm a big boy and have lots of love to give!

Here's my story:

I'm one of Blossom's five babies from the litter called "Blossom's Babies"... and now I'm all grown up! I was born right before Hug-a-Bunny rescued my mom, my siblings, and myself, and grew up in Hug-a-Bunny! I was hand-fed formula since my mom couldn't feed us, and out of the 10 babies only 5 of us survived. We are all adopted into great homes. I was adopted by a great family, but unfortunately they couldn't keep me anymore. I'm looking for a new permanent home where I can live out the rest of my days with a loving family to call my own.

Out of all of Blossom's babies, I was the only white one! My brothers, sisters, and I were five extremely adorable Flemish Giant babies. Our mom, Blossom, was originally found hopping along the streets of a town in Bergen County. The people tried to catch her for days but she kept running with us in her belly. After 5 days they finally caught her and three days later she gave birth to 10 of us in the shelter! We were all born on November 19th, 2008. Since our mom was so underweight and feeling very sick, she couldn't nurse us, even though she loved us very much. It's possible that she didn't even have the milk to feed us properly. So, we were separated while our mom Blossom got healthy and we were bottle fed for 6 weeks. We all got adopted soon after into amazing homes where we were all cared for and loved.

Since our mom Blossom was 15 pounds (she sadly passed away in May of 2010) we all grew very big! She was a large, majestic grey Flemish Giant. I'm a big boy, about 10-11 pounds. I have gorgeous white fur with brown spots. I am neutered, use my litterbox, and love to eat. I need a rabbit-experienced home who would love to welcome a large boy like me into their lives. I live in a LARGE exercise pen and have time out daily to run around. I'm a big boy and have lots of love to give.

I don't do too well with new situations and it takes me a while to settle in. On top of that, I have a problem with spraying. When I get too excited, I will jump and sometimes will spray urine out of excitement!!! I don't quite understand that this isn't ok, and this may have developed while trying to get attention from my old family. Regardless, I haven't been able to kick the habit yet and will occasionally spray when I'm excited. I can go weeks without doing it, but get me excited and I can't hold back. I have been seen by vets and there is no medical issue, but it does make me "special needs" because it requires an extra special family. I realize that this makes me less desirable, but I'm hopefully that there's someone out there who won't mind this and can work with me. I am perfect with my litterbox- but sometimes cannot help myself! Please offer me the fairytale ending that I deserve.
