Meet Zuri
PLEASE read Zuri's bio carefully before applying to adopt her. She is a dog that will need a very special family and is not for the average pet owner. Here is some info on her as provided by her foster mom.
Zuri is a Mastiff/Rhodesian mix.
Zuri is 28" at the shoulder and 90-95 lbs. and very powerful. She was born in April 2007.
Rescued in Feb. 08...I was the 3rd attempt before the pound.
This is a very high energy dog. She requires a lot of exercise.
She can clear a 4' fence without even trying, it is a game to her.
Zuri is housebroken and crate trained and must be crated while she is alone in a house, or she will positively unstuff something.
She feels that cats, rabbits and small things were meant to chase, and will not hesitate to drag you along behind if she has the urge and you aren't strong enough to stop her!
We are still working on obedience, she catches on quickly; but, tends to forget........it is a daily thing! She trains well with whistle training (recall) and treats.
She is a counter-surfer, and when she stands on her back legs, she can reach anything she wants!
Anyone who adopts her will need a fenced in yard (preferrably 6'), someone experienced with obedience training (she is NOT for the novice owner), preferrably a NO CAT household,
and a home with older children (teen and up) as she doesn't realize her size around younger children.
Zuri may have her shortcommings, but one on one, in a calm environment, she can be the biggest couch potato you have ever seen. She is beautiful to look at. She is very affectionate and will play well in the house with my dachshund (play is always supervised). She is protective of our family.
She is very intellegent (sometimes I think..no, I know, she has one up on me!)
Zuri needs a family that will love her, and have the time, strength and patience to continue to train her. In the end, they would have a wonderful companion.
