Flying with Your Pet

Taking your pet on the plane? Here are some policies to note:

  • Baby on board: While some airlines only fly pets more than eight weeks old, US Airways, JetBlue and Spirit don't have age requirements.
  • Beyond dogs and cats: Delta allows birds, ferrets, rabbits, hamsters and guinea pigs (and some dogs and cats) in the cabin.
  • Two's company: Spirit, American and Northwest allow two pets per carrier (restrictions apply).
  • Load limit: AirTran and Delta don't have weight restrictions as long as pets fit comfortably in their carriers.
