Note from Our Founder
Last week I was picking my brother up at the airport when "unknown
caller" popped up on my phone. I ignored it. They called back. I
begrudgingly answered and heard a strange man talking through the
wind -- saying something mostly unintelligible. I did catch some
broken phrases: "I think (crackle) dog park (crackle) real nice
boy." With a sinking feeling, I pieced it together. When I left
for the airport, my dog Jake had let himself out of the house by
pawing the door knob, gotten out of the fenced backyard and made
his way to the dog park, where, I later learned, he sat patiently
at the gate until someone let him in. Find out what happened to
HERE'S WHAT YOU SAID
In our February newsletter we asked you to tell us if you were a cat
person or a dog person. We received lots of responses, but some of you
wouldn't be backed into a corner to make a choice. Grace summed it up:
"I'm a cat person and a dog person. How can one choose one over the
other? They are both wonderful!" Shay Faulkner, shelter coordinator
at Sugar Land Animal Services in Texas, summarized some of your
feelings with this comment: "I own two dogs and I serve two cats."
TELL US: It's almost spring. In cleaning up and clearing out, do you
find things to share with your local shelter or rescue group? Towels,
linens, extra pet supplies you've never used? Maybe you've come up with
things we haven't even thought about.
Help tornado victims. Powerful tornadoes spread across the midwestern
and southern U.S. last week. Many people and their pets were displaced
by this terrible tragedy. With your help, we can reunite pets with their
families and care for those who have lost their homes.
