HERE'S WHAT YOU SAID
Last month, we asked if you had a success story about working through behavior challenges with your pet. Here are our favorite responses:
When Arden A. adopted Missy, a dog who had been living at a shelter for nine years, the staff warned that she didn't get along with other dogs. On walks, Arden noted that Missy just didn't get along with some dogs. "I began reading books and Web articles about dog aggression, its causes and treatments." With her new-found knowledge, Arden was able to modify Missy's behavior by "careful observation and correction commands." Today, Missy lives with Arden's three other dogs and manages to get along because her "mom" took time to understand her behavior.
Kathie N.'s foster dog had fear aggression and bit when he was scared. "We consulted a trainer and went to work. It took about three months, and success!...We learned the value of training."
And from them, we learn the value of understanding and training. Thanks for writing.
