Note from Our Founder Dear Friends, The Purrsnickety Pet Ranch was a youthful idea I had for a retirement home for senior cats. My adoption of Callie, an old cat whose owner had died, inspired my interest. (Callie is pictured below; for our story, read my blog entry.) College, grad school and several moves interfered with my "ranch" plans, and then came Petfinder. But my interest in old pets hasn't diminished. They offer such great companionship, and giving a homeless pet a home in its golden years is an act of compassion that is good for the soul. Consider giving an older pet a second chance. Happy Tail: A Golden Lily From Melanie D. of Susquehanna, PA: I have been rescuing and adopting cats for the past 22 years, so I know how hard it is for older cats and/or special needs cats to get adopted. My most recent adoption was this past Easter. I decided to search the special needs pets by using the name Lily. I found a listing for a Pennsylvania rescue group called Animals Can't Talk. Even though there was no photo of Lily, I emailed Naomi who runs the rescue. Lily had been in foster care for about a year.
