Note from Our Founder

Tragedy has struck again. My heart goes out to the people who have been devastated by tornadoes in the central part of the country. The Petfinder Foundation stands ready to help our shelters and rescue groups when tragedies like this strike—sometimes they need new roofs, sometimes new kennels. In some cases, whole buildings are destroyed. You can help us lend assistance by contributing to our disaster fund.

Happy Tail:
Honey Bunny

Submitted by Sarah May from Toronto, Ont.:

Honey is a sweet and spunky bunny that was surrendered to Rabbit Rescue because she had glaucoma. She then went through a couple of foster homes before finally coming home with us! She bonded with my other bunny, Bugsley, and they are now the best of friends! She loves to eat, play, jump, dig and chase. We love our Honey Bunny! For Valentine's Day this year, why not get your bunny a much-loved friend?

Honey was adopted from Rabbit Rescue Inc. in Milton, Ont.

HERE'S WHAT YOU SAID!
Here are our favorite responses to the two questions we posed last month.

Question 1: What's your pet's dream Valentine's Day activity?
Suzanne Schulz's dogs, Bella and Dancer, like to visit the patients at the medical center where they volunteer..."We spend a lot of holidays at the hospital, cheering up the people who can't be home celebrating," she writes.

Question 2: Why is your pet a better Valentine than your significant other?
Kathie Nurena says that because of Shorty, her Maltese, she has started volunteering at a local shelter and with a breed-specific rescue group. "I don't think any person could have such a dramatic impact on me...and he has helped save thirteen dogs and one person."

HEART-Y PRAISE
North Beach Progressive Animal Welfare Society was pounded by hurricane force winds and torrential rains in December. The shelter lost power for several days, which meant staff had to haul water to the shelter, change the animals' bedding constantly (without being able to do any laundry) and feed the animals by flashlight. They, like so many of our Petfinder members, deserve recognition for making sure their four-footed residents are well taken care of.
