Basic Instructions

For basic instructions and help with essential membership items please choose from the following links.

Error Help

For help with errors that you have encountered while using the Petfinder system, please choose from the following links:

• Missing Buttons and Browser Errors
  If you can't see the "ADD", "Save Changes", or "Browse" button when you try to save pet info, upload a pet picture, or edit your home page, you may need to update your browser.

• Problems with Photo Uploads
  Get assistance if you receive an error when you try to upload a pet picture, or you uploaded a pet's picture, but it did not appear on the pet's page.

• Help with Editing Photos
  Get help resizing re-size your pet's photos to the correct right size for upload.

• Problems with the Message Board
  Get help here if you signed up for the private message board, but can't see any of the forums.

Advanced Features Help

• Request a Unique Address
  Is your shelter's address too long and complicated? You can get an easy to remember address for your web page.

• Show off your pets that need a forever home, or share your 'happy tail' adoption stories.
  

• Petfinder graphics for member use
  If you would like to add graphics to your home page, Petfinder provides several to get you started.

• Adding extra pages to your Web site.
  You will need to do this if you wish to use a Web page creation program to create all pages, including the home page. An example location of a file placed in your FTP account would look like this:

• FTP program to access your new Petfinder FTP account
  Download and use this free FTP program with instructions from us.

• Put a shelter location map on your home page.
  Make it easier for our visitors to find your shelter. Supply them with a map to the shelter on your home page.

• Message board sign up.
  Help on how to sign up and use the Petfinder message boards.
