I need some advice on this one...

We came back from winter break today...and while starting up class one of my teachers mentioned he had gotten a puppy. Someone asks if it was from a shelter, where he got it-and he said, no my wife and I bought it from a pet store. He moves on and starts the lesson.

He isn't my favorite teacher. I'm one of his more cooperative students, but only because he has a ton of...junkheads...in his class.

I really want to say something to him. I want to let him know that there's a good chance his dog came from a cruddy factory/farm where the mother of his puppy was living in a chicken hutch. I know that isn't right, but I want to.

Is there any way that i can approach him, of course with respect, and make him aware that rescues and shelters would have been (*duh*) a lot better, or as my position (as the student) and him the teacher, is that inappropriate?

I know everyone is entitled to their own decisions and opinions and i can't tell him what to do. but i feel like maybe if he had been aware where most pet store dogs came from he would have made a better choice. And in the future, if he decides to get another dog, i want to be sure that he at least CONSIDERS adopting. or at least a reputable breeder.

opinions, please?

What type of class is it? If it is an English or Literature class where you write papers, maybe you can address it that way. Otherwise, I guess you can print out something that shows where puppymill pups come from and leave it on his desk before he gets to class. I don't want you to get into trouble or get a bad grade, but I think you can make your point in a subtle way and still make your point.

That's a tough one. What grade are you in? I guess when I think about it I would hold off for a few weeks until his purchase is less fresh and he's more likely to listen instead of feel defensive. Then, if you think you have a chance to make a difference, go for it (gently).

*Sigh* I was hoping I wouldn't have to admit this....it's orchestra-- Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Evil or Very Mad Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

I want him to get the message...but I also have to be careful. I remember one time he wrote something on the board with the date it was due-and as a joke someone went up and changed the date when he wasn't looking and he threatened to give detention to anyone who did that. He never figured out who it was, but I am VERY bad at hiding things and would not want to get in trouble.

*I'm a high school freshman.
