We have five dogs in the house right now. 4 of them act like I'm killing them or try to kill me when I try to clip their nails. One of them is an angel, and I can do their nails by myself with no help. Which dog is it?
(Alphabetically)
Bo - Senior Coonhound XL
Daisy - Black lab foster L
Molly - Crazy terrier foster S
Pedro - Abused pug mix S
Petey - Rottie mix XL
edited to fix the options!

None. Let them grow and curl around until they poke them in the pads. |

I voted for Daisy because I am in love with her and think she is perfect! _________________

Well if you still want to vote don't look any further And thanks for playing, I'm a big dork!
It's freaking Petey! So two of you got it right (flutter)! Daisy and Bo are obvious choices because they are unbelievably sweet and wouldn't hurt a fly.
Bo - Is pretty big and muscular and does not want me clipping his nails. When he's tired enough to actually let me, he will actually bay like I'm trying to kill him (I've never hit a quick, he has clear nails!!). I'm so afraid I hurt him, but its just him being a big ninny. I do one at a time, while he's sleeing.
Daisy - Does not want to have her nails clipped, tells me in a polite way. But will shove paws under her body, contort, run, push, pull, anything she can to get away. I need someone to hold her to a sit. She jogs with Shawn, so I rarely have to do her nails, they stay short from the cement.
Molly - Will let me do most of her front paws but back paws are a no go. Shawn has to hold her and keep her from squirming.
Pedro - Tries to attack me, they muzzle him at the vet.
Petey - I will hold out my hand for a shake and he'll keep it there while I clip his nails!! He will sit on the couch with little fuss while I do the rest. He'll try to pull his paw away once in a while, but that's the most. Takes me about a minute to finish all his nails!!!! The other dogs make it a whole freaking experience!!
I just can't believe that my biggest, strongest, alpha dog is the only one that lets me clip his nails without event. He's such a good boy. Treats for Petey today! |

Smokey is the same way.
He may tug a couple times.
But for the most part is a perfect
gentleman for his nail clippings.
Sadie, the little girl however
will contort her body in such ways!
She'll twist and turn and lick and nibble
on my hand that's holding her foot.
But in the end, It gets done. |

lol, i voted petey.... seems the bigger ones dont care as much...
matter of fact, this was amazinglykharmic.....
i was just working up the nerve to do some nail clipping .......sigh.........
2 spaniels who hate having their feet touched...chi acts as if im ripping him to shreds, border collie keep hers down on her own due to constant ball chasing, but i still have dew claws to do and she doesnt like sitting still that long..... and the hound gives me dirty looks, but lets it go till he gets bored with it......... |

I voted for Bo since I love him and he
reminds me so much of Buster. _________________ "The purity of a person's heart can be quickly measured by how they regard animals" ~ Anonymous

My first instinct was to go with Petey. Sometimes those big dogs just are better suited to handling that kind of stress. I started to use a Dremel on the dogs (foster & permanent) because I was traumatized with the clippers that kept pinching and needing to be replaced or sharpened. I was working on Janie (Treeing Walker Coonhound who was recently adopted) and she was being fussy. Harley (Black Lab X American Staffordshire Terrier mix who was adopted on Wednesday) came up behind her and sat to wait for his turn. When Janie left, he just let me do whatever I wanted to his paws. He was never fussy and even allowed me to use him as a demonstration model at noisy adoption events. Frankly, he just liked the attention and would do almost anything to get it. _________________

I thought it was Bo. Since he is a big senior dog, I assumed he'd be calm.
Benny loves it when we hold his paws. His back ones are ticklish. But I can only cut one nail at a time because then he notices the clipper and wants to eat it. _________________

| I thought Bo would be no problem, but he whines like a little girl. He's a big drama queen about it and will run away from me and look at me like I hurt him for a while after that. He's such a couch potato now, but he was scared to even come in the house before! I forget that he has come so far. |

LOL! Baby used to cry like a baby when Pippen used to snap at her when she was younger! He would not even touch her and she would carry on for like five minutes! Such a little actress! LOL! She has learned to cry until she gets her way! When the water dish is empty, she sits by me and cries until I figure out what she is talking about. One night, when all the other dogs had the good comfy spots, Baby sat by my bedroom door and cried and cried! I finally got out of bed and got a blanket out of the closet for her to lay on! LOL! _________________
